Marketing Role Explanation

MARKETING ANALYST

Marketing Analysts (1-3 years’ experience): This is a junior role. They will focus on executing a marketing strategy. Their goal is to help organizations with the creation and production of marketing and promotional materials: updating client-facing advertising pieces, produce reports and presentations, meet deadlines, assist with client communications, standardizing marketing materials, and more. They come to their conclusions by studying market conditions, competitors’ activities and consumer behavior.

MARKETING CONSULTANT

Marketing Consultant (3-5 years' experience): This role will help your organization decide how to best engage new and existing clients. These consultants are skilled in marketing, business, communications, and psychology. Many also specialize in specific areas of marketing. Additionally, the marketing consultant will help to determine who else might be enticed to try the product or service and how to expand the client base. A marketing consultant looks at the existing business model and then, using analytical tools, considers the market potential and develops a strategy to achieve larger goals. Throughout the process, the marketing consultant ensures adherence to the company’s mission and measures success, testing response and tracking results while executing a comprehensive strategic marketing plan.

CMO (CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER)

CMO (7 or more years' of experience): Take classes from our CMO at General Assembly, or see his teaching profile here. This role will help develop a comprehensive marketing plan that will promote brand recognition and help the organization gain a competitive advantage. A Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of an organization's marketing and advertising initiatives. CMO's primary responsibility is to generate revenue by increasing sales through successful marketing for the entire organization, using market research, A/B testing, pricing elasticity studies, product marketing, marketing communications, advertising and public relations. The CMO ensures the organization's message is distributed across channels and to targeted audiences in order to meet sales objectives (additional time rate $150/h).

PMO (PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE)

This role or department improves project management by standardizing processes and improving efficiency. PMOs create and maintain project documentation and best practices, focus their work and their team's work on meeting deadlines, track metrics, and offer training. They may also report project progress to executives and stakeholders, help prioritize projects, and ensure all projects support the overall business objectives of the enterprise (additional Time Rate $80/h).

WE FOCUS ON BUSINESS OBJECTIVES

Marketing is an extremely important function of your business. Today’s marketing has become increasingly complex with many moving parts like: data science needed for marketing analytics; systems and IT needed for front and back end website development, storage, speed and security; statistical analysis needed for A/B experiments, marketing and revenue regressions and forecasts; financial analysis to predict return on investment (ROI), net present value (NPV) and break even point (BEP) of marketing budgets, and many more.

Why not outsource this job to professionals? The reason you do not do your own accounting is because it became too complex for you to handle. You may not know it, but today's marketing is far more complex. Digital marketing has many moving parts and, to get it done right, it requires years of experience in each of the channels and different marketing roles. Our team is made of experts in each of the different roles and backgrounds necessary to have a cohesive marketing strategy and execution.
